“17oz Zero+ selvedge denim”
Both the warp and weft use uneven, high-twist #5 rough cotton yarn for stiffness. The dye is the darkest we've ever used, resulting in a deep black color. Only a limited number of shuttle looms can weave such thick and extremely slubby thread, and even then the machines require adjustments, customization, and a slow weaving speed to be able to get the job done. The end result is a denim with a deeper color and darker indigo look, while still retaining the unevenness and roughness of our beloved BUSHIDO denim.
The buttons used were newly created to mimic the color of "shakudo" metal with a well-worn black finish, which has been used for weapons and ornaments in Japan since ancient times. As the buttons are used, the luster settles down and a beautiful patina starts to appear, allowing you to enjoy changes in the look of the metal. The pocket bags are made of 8 oz. slubby thread denim which is tougher than conventional fabrics.
