This is a work shirt made of indigo black spotted dobby fabric. Aiming for a color tone that resembles layering black dye over indigo fabric, we used thread dyed with a combination of natural and synthetic indigo dyes, plus black thread, and then adjusted the number of thread colors that appear on the surface through weaving to achieve the desired color tones. Compared to both synthetic and natural indigo-dyed threads, black threads are colored with a dye that does not fade easily so that, as the fabric fades, the mottled pattern will become more prominent. With work elements throughout, this shirt is robustly constructed with triple-stitched rolled seams in some areas for long term durability.
