A slim tapered model from our Yamato series.

The rise on these is not as shallow as the 003, and they have a moderate taper, making them slim but very easy to wear. The inseam is set at 32 inches, shorter than our other models. We used our 15oz “Yamato Damashi” denim, which roughly translates as ‘the heart and soul of Japan’, made by weaving slubby, extra-long fibers on a vintage shuttle loom. This gives the denim a really supple texture, but also makes for some incredible vertical fades.

The leather patch is tanned cowhide leather and depicts the beautiful scenery of Japan. Other details include an exclusive flasher, decorative stitching (“Passing things on to future generations”), a rayon “Phoenix” label, silver-plated cherry blossom buttons, cherry blossom rivets, and indigo jacquard pocket bags. 

For the sewing, we’ve used two colors: banana yellow and golden brown, with the stitch count, needle count, and stitch width all varied according to each part of the jeans to bump these up to the next level of attention to detail. Other details unique to the Yamato jeans are the original silver thread used for the locks and bobbin threads, and the black thread in the middle of the triple stitching seen in the rolled stitches and pocket openings.
